This month will be one of the first months in a very long time where I’m in the revision stage on two projects and in the earlier writing stages of another. This means I’m actively writing on three projects…! I try to avoid this and have one book in the outlining stage, another in the writing stage, while the third is virtually out the door ready to publish. This month, my schedule didn’t happen that way. While I try to stick to my production schedule, there are times when plot bunnies and characters come out of the woodworks with new stories and scenes. If the scene is a pivotal point in an upcoming story, I usually stop and write it so as not to lose the overall essence of the scene and emotions of the characters.
So what am I working on this month?
Seduced by Sin (Rugged Riders, 3)
Last year, I revealed 5 facts about the H/h of this story on my facebook timeline. I don’t have a blurb to share right now, but here is a general idea of what these two are all about:
- Sean lost his pregnant girlfriend in a tragic car accident.
- For most of his adult life, Sean has spent his career on the road and has some commitment phobias.
- Recently, Desirae became under-employed.
- A once in a lifetime opportunity presents itself and if Desirae takes the job, it could be the motivation she needs to focus on her goals.
- When Desirae meets the Sean, she thinks he’s a sexist jerk.
Wolf’s Honor (Caedmon Wolves, 6)
Connor Maxim is a law-abiding citizen. His motto: Keep the peace. Protect the Pack. But what happens when he meets his match, Antonia Trudeau, and finds that she circumvents more than just the laws and captures his heart?
Like the previous books in the Caedmon Wolves series, this introduces a new couple as they fight odds to obtain their HEA. Many of the characters from the previous books make reappearance in other books because there is quite a bit of layering where the linked story arcs are concerned.
Ascend (Wolf in Exile Part 3)
Ascend will conclude Wolf in Exile. It follows the characters, Thane and Kalena, as they work together to escape the confines of a shifter prison. Despite all the danger going on around them, they can’t fight the urge to remain with each other.
Serial vs Series
Wolf in Exile is a serial so the story is told and structured in parts (In this case, there are 3 parts). It differs from my series (ie. Caedmon Wolves). In the serial–Wolf in Exile, there is one main story arc surrounding Silex Pharmaceuticals and the corruption within the organization involving a deadly research drug. Thane and Kalena’s relationship ties into each story (or part). With each part, they will grow closer together as they discover that they really do love/need each other despite conflicting goals. Each part (except for the last) does end on a climax (or cliffhanger). Then we have the underlying subplots (like Thane’s connection to Silex and how he came to be imprisoned and why he hesitates to bring Kalena into his world). The subplots are there to create tension and conflict all around.
That’s what I’m working on this month. There are less than 24 days left in February, and I hope to get through it without too many plot bunny attacks.
Oh, and don’t forget that I’ve split my contemporary and paranormal/ fantasy romances between two pens: Ambrielle Kirk and Amber Ella Monroe. Same person. Just two different genres and tones.
